Initial Implementation of Data Analytics and Audit Process Management

To answer the call for more evidence on adoption and effectiveness of Big Data Analytics in auditing, this study investigates auditors’ use data analytic tools audit-process management, including audit planning, testing, conclusions. The analysis, which is performed as a qualitative study, based twenty-eight semi-structured interviews with 4 non-Big professionals Thailand to gain insights into their experience implementing initial stage. Findings suggest that auditors primarily planning substantive testing. Nevertheless, do not perceive need these test internal controls conclude opinions. In addition, we find tend apply anomaly detection testing management assertions. Overall, benefits improving process management. present practical implications firms professionals, how initially implement effectively auditing guidelines regulators develop standards govern tools. We note some limitations such generalizability results, personal biases, different techniques used by each firm.
